Gift of Securities and Cash

By making a gift of appreciated securities, including stock, bonds and mutual funds, you are entitled to take a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of appreciated securities held longer than one year. In addition, you will likely avoid paying the capital gains tax if securities were sold. Use the Stock Donation Calculator to see how much more you can give with stock instead of cash.

If your stock is held in a brokerage account, send a letter of instruction to your broker or banker with a full description of the securities and your gift's intended purpose. Securities can be transferred electronically using the following instructions:

The Vanguard Brokerage Services
P.O. Box 1170
Valley Forge, PA 19482

Bucks County Community College Foundation
Account #55668111
DTC #0062

Please send a copy of your letter of instruction to the Foundation by either mail, fax (215-968-8245), or e-mail (foundation@bucks.edu). You may also wish to call the office at 215-968-8224 to advise us of your transfer.

Donation of Stock Certificates

  • Deliver or mail the unsigned certificates to the Foundation.
  • Copy and send the Foundation one blank stock power for each company whose stock you are transferring. Only the signature line should be filled in, with the signature(s) matching the name(s) that appear on the face of the certificates, or both names if the stock is jointly owned.
  • An officer of a commercial bank must guarantee the owner's signature.
  • Send the certificates and stock powers in separate envelopes. Send the signed stock power in one and the stock certificates in the other with a letter (also signed by the owner(s) of the stock) stating that the stock is being donated to the Bucks County Community College Foundation.
  • Mention the purpose of the gift (e.g., scholarship name, annual fund, specific endowment, etc.).

Matching Gift

Double or possibly triple your gift to BUCKS! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees, and/or spouses. These matching gift programs have been part of corporate giving initiatives to extend the reach of corporate giving, and to encourage employees to be actively involved in supporting their communities. Ask your employer if they provide matching gift opportunities. Your company's personnel or human resources office can provide information on how to process a matching gift.

To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, search Blackbaud's online database, or contact 215-968-8224.

Endowments

Gifts to both general and specific endowment programs provide valuable annual income that allows BUCKS to respond to special needs and unique opportunities. Unrestricted gifts address emerging College and community priorities, while designated gifts support specialized programs and areas already recognized as important to the College. Endowed funds support the following:

  • Educational Assistance – gifts assure that promising students in our county have access to high quality education. Scholarships and awards are based on academic merit, community and College service, or demonstrated financial need.
  • Instructional Facilities – Gifts enable BUCKS graduates to meet the needs of area employers by providing equipment, laboratories, and facilities essential to maintaining academic excellence.
  • Library Services – Gifts benefit an integral part of the College’s instructional program.

To discuss available endowment opportunities, call 215-968-8224 or e-mail foundation@bucks.edu.

Naming Opportunity

A naming opportunity gives you the chance to attach your name in a permanent way to an area of the College that is most memorable or meaningful to you. Numerous opportunities exist to enhance your visibility and name recognition among BUCKS students, faculty and staff, and business and community leaders. Having your name, or the name of someone you wish to honor, memorialized will be an enduring statement of your investment in the community’s college.

To discuss available naming opportunities, call 215-968-8224 or e-mail foundation@bucks.edu.

Scholarships

Setting up a scholarship at BUCKS is easy and allows you to make a positive impact in students' lives. Currently, the Foundation administers more than 125 scholarships together with the College's Financial Aid Office. Either tailored specifically to your wishes or addressing the College's most urgent needs, all scholarships find their way into the hands of our most deserving students. A gift of $3,000 will create a named award while a gift of $10,000 or more will endow a named scholarship to assist our students. However, even a smaller donation can help you establish your College legacy by contributing to one of the existing scholarship funds that matches your intentions. For more information or to request a scholarship brochure, call 215-968-8224 or e-mail scholarships@bucks.edu.

To make a scholarship donation now, use our online donation form.

Leave Your Legacy - Personalize a Bench ($2,500)

Place a lasting memorial on one of the College's three campuses. Your $2,500 donation will help raise funds to support student scholarships, update equipment, refurbish campus facilities, and provide long-term educational program funding through endowments. In addition, the full amount of your gift is a deductible contribution to the extent permitted under IRS guidelines.

The six-foot long bronze-finished Garden Bench perfectly blends into the campus setting. A custom-made 2" x 10" bronze plaque is available for individual inscription, enhancing the beauty of this Garden Bench and allowing you to let everyone know that you were part of BUCKS history, or honor a friend or loved one and make them part of the campus setting.

To order your Garden Bench, call 215-968-8224, e-mail foundation@bucks.edu, download the order form (PDF-format) and mail it to BCCC, or complete your order online and submit the information directly and securely to the Foundation office.

Leave Your Legacy - Personalize a Brick ($100)

Personalize your brick and help pave the way to the College Gazebo in the Tyler Formal Gardens, or the Delhaas Woods at the Lower Bucks Campus. With only a limited number of bricks still available, reserve yours today by sending in your $100 donation. Proceeds benefit the Alumni Association's student scholarship fund, and the full amount of your gift is a deductible contribution to the extent permitted under IRS guidelines.

Each 4" x 8" brick can be inscribed with three lines of up to 15 characters each. Let everyone who visits the Gazebo know you were part of BUCKS history, or honor a friend or loved one by making them part of this beautiful setting. To order your brick, call 215-968-8224, e-mail alumni@bucks.edu, download the order form (PDF-format) and mail it to BCCC, or complete your order online and submit the information directly and securely to the Foundation office.

Leave Your Legacy - Personalize a Tree ($750)

Become part of the landscape of one of BCCC's three campuses and at the same time help raise funds to support student scholarships, update equipment, refurbish campus facilities, and provide long-term educational program funding through endowments.

For a $750 gift, your tree will be planted on the campus of your choice - the Upper Bucks Campus in Perkasie, the Lower Bucks Campus in Bristol, or the Main Campus in Newtown. Or dedicate an existing tree in an area most meaningful to you, because with a personalized plaque, you can let everyone know that you were part of BUCKS history; or honor a friend or loved one and make them part of one of these three beautiful settings. In addition, the full amount of your gift is a deductible contribution to the extent permitted under IRS guidelines.

To order your tree, call 215-968-8224, e-mail foundation@bucks.edu, download the order form (PDF-format) and mail it to BCCC, or complete your order online and submit the information directly and securely to the Foundation office.

Your interest and generosity are deeply appreciated. Please consult your financial advisor for specific legal, tax, or investment questions.

P.S. DOUBLE (or maybe even TRIPLE) your impact by providing a matching gift from your company! Ask your human resources department today, or find out if your company participates.
