Dental Assisting Program

This 100-hour Dental Assisting Program prepares you for entry-level positions in one of the fastest-growing healthcare positions – Dental Assisting. The purpose of this course is to familiarize you with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice.
This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines. Clinical aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment; introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and other areas.
Additionally, this course is designed to prepare you to sit for the DANB Radiology Health and Safety Examination (RHS). The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires that any dental office employee who will be performing radiological procedures as auxiliary personnel (other than a licensed dentist or dental hygienist) must take and pass the DANB Radiology Health and Safety Examination (RHS) and register with the State. The cost of this exam is $250 and is not included as part of the cost of this program. The DANB exam is administered at Pearson Vue Centers.

DENTAL ASSISTING WHPAH-3000 WB2
This is a hybrid course. The Tuesday sessions are face-to-face on the Newtown Campus. The Thursday class sessions are live online through Zoom. Students must attend BOTH the face-to-face and the online classes.
