This course provides a study of the role of an unlicensed Patient Care Technician in acute care settings and the skills needed to perform this role. Topics include safety; patient assessment; blood and specimen collection; surgery and immobility; and patient care and comfort.

Introduction to Occupational Therapy

This course is an introduction to the occupational therapy field, including basic concepts, principles, and processes that guide interventions; the history and development of the profession; current professional roles, issues, and trends; and an overview of values, philosophy, standards, and ethics. Students complete 15 hours of shadowing.

Electrocardiography Interpretation

The Electrocardiography Interpretation course includes the electrocardiogram (EKG) principles and procedures in the health care setting. Topics include the structure and function of the heart with emphasis on the conduction system, proper lead placement, and interpretation of rhythm strips.
