Federal Work-Study Jobs

If you were offered Federal Work-Study as part of your financial aid package and want a job, start by contacting the Financial Aid Office to schedule a work-study appointment.

During your appointment, you will receive a Federal Work-Study Authorization Form. The form lists your approved Federal Work-Study funding and the maximum number of hours you may work. Positions may be on campus or off campus. After you receive your Authorization Form, you may contact supervisors about positions that interest you. Contact information for off-campus positions is available during your work-study appointment or by contacting the Financial Aid Office.

After you are hired, your supervisor must sign the form. You must then return the signed form to the Financial Aid Office. Once the Financial Aid Office receives your completed form, it will be sent to Human Resources for processing.

You will receive an email at your Bucks email address with instructions to complete onboarding requirements. After onboarding is complete, you and your supervisor will receive an email with your official start date.

United Way of Bucks County is looking for a reliable and committed team member to provide support at the HELP Center in Bristol Borough. Preference will be made for individuals who are available to work with us for the Fall and Spring Semester 2023-2024. Our HELP Center Associate is responsible for managing and monitoring inventory, assisting clients and Member Agencies with shopping and pick-ups, assisting United Way of Bucks County staff with product distribution and volunteer management, and coordinating aspects of building use with our partners.

Primary responsibilities:
• Manage and monitor inventory to ensure quick distribution to the community.
• Pick-up or receive, load, deliver, and unload program supplies and donations as needed.
• Welcome and help all Member Agencies and clients picking up items at the HELP Center.
• Work with United Way of Bucks County staff and volunteers; ensure all feel welcome and understand the value of the HELP Center.
• Manage all paperwork in a highly organized way.
• Ensure that facilities are clean, organized, and safe for program operations. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
• Must be a confident self-starter with an interest in community service and be a strong leader and manager.
• Must have exceptional organizational, follow-up, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Preference for a college student with an interest in understanding how nonprofits operate
• Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with program partners, donors, staff, and volunteers in a courteous manner.
• Must be able to organize a variety of tasks, meet deadlines, define problems, and pay attention to details.
Physical Requirements:
• Sorting, packing, stocking, loading, and unloading, including items up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally assisting in projects which may include painting, drilling, or hammering.
• Ability to help with basic general maintenance of HELP Center, including moving, sweeping, and stocking
• Ability to twist, pull, push, lift (up to 50 lbs.), bend, squat, climb, walk, stand, sit for extended periods.
• Use of pallet jack, stacker, and/or forklift (with proper training).

Job Description

Perform all job tasks and duties in accordance to safety procedures
• Uphold store and customer service policies, guidelines and procedures
• Price and sell ReStore merchandise in accordance to company procedures and policy
• Maintain and routinely organize all store departments in accordance to best practices
• Receive or decline donation items while assisting donors in the donation center and the ReStore truck operations
• Adjust to different job duties/tasks quickly throughout the ReStores to support whenever and wherever needed
• Any travel requested is reimbursed following state reimbursement laws and mileage will be determined when the employee reports to their permanently assigned location and then travels to other work sites.
• Able to work independently, and at times with limited oversight
• Manage/operate the donation center, sales floor, truck, cash register, or processing center in the absence of leadership

While the HfHBC offices are smoke-free and temperature controlled, a majority of the work may be in non-temperature-controlled conditions, often outdoors. This position requires individuals who are able to safely lift at least 50 lbs. frequently and more, occasionally with assistance
