IFSAC Accreditation
Our Associates Degree in Fire Science and Associates Degree in Emergency Management programs are International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Accredited. All student's successfully completing either degree program starting in Academic Year 2019-2020 will be eligible to apply for entry into the International Registry of the IFSAC Degree Assembly.
What is the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC)?
The International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) is a not-for-profit, peer-driven, self-governing system of both fire service certifying entities and higher education fire-related degree programs. IFSAC's mission is to plan and administer a high-quality, uniformly delivered accreditation system with an international scope.

The IFSAC Degree Assembly accredits fire and emergency related degree programs at the associate, baccalaureate, and master levels offered by colleges and universities in the United States and throughout the world.
About IFSAC Degree Assembly Accreditation
The IFSAC Degree Assembly is one of two assemblies in the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress providing specialized accreditation in the fire service profession.
An IFSAC accredited degree program indicates that course offerings, institutional support, and qualified faculty are working together in completing their educational mission. Accreditation is granted only after a review by a panel consisting of representatives from other member institutions.

To plan and administer a high quality, uniformly delivered accreditation system with an international scope for postsecondary degree programs relating to fire protection.
Functions of the Degree Assembly
- Develop and/or adopt criteria for accreditation.
- Establish policies and operational guidelines to be carried out by the Degree Assembly Board of Governors.
- Promote networking among postsecondary institutions that offer degree programs in fire related disciplines.
- Develop and promote an awareness among government agencies, postsecondary institutions, and the public regarding the accreditation system.
- Identify and provide accreditation services to member entities.
- Ensure the objectives of this assembly are completed in a non-discriminatory fashion.
- Utilize appropriate criteria to ensure accreditation is completed on a valid and credible basis.
- Seek recognition from agencies who evaluate, accredit, recognize, or approve accrediting bodies.
