- Students must be accepted to Bucks County Community College's Act 120 Municipal Police Academy to enroll in this course. Students must maintain satisfactory progress in the Academy as required and defined by the Pennsylvania Police Officers' Education & Training Commission (MPOETC) to successfully complete the course. Students are required to adhere to all MPOETC Municipal Police Officer Basic Training Program rules and regulations.

- This course addresses core foundations of policing, including criminal law, patrol operations, juvenile justice, vehicle code enforcement, ethics, communication skills, community engagement. Cadets build essential knowledge and practical skills needed for safe, lawful, and effective entry-level police work.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- Identify each step in the basic adult criminal justice process and the juvenile system processes;
- Explain the general principles of criminal law, elements of crimes, criminal defenses, parties to crime, types of crimes, and constitutional limits on criminal law;
- Examine the system of checks and balances operating within the criminal system that ensures fairness; and
- Analyze the definition, extent, and nature and control of juvenile delinquency in the United States.
