Drive-in event to be held at Newtown Campus in Lower Level Parking Lot S4

MUST ORDER REGALIA BY MAY 1 & SIGN UP TO PARTICIPATE

With the public health challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Bucks County Community College has planned a unique drive-in outdoor Commencement Ceremony for our graduates. The ceremony will last approximately one hour and will take place rain or shine.

Students will select their desired ceremony time on a first come first serve basis.

Graduating students will be seated outdoors next to their vehicle and will be invited onto the stage to perform their ceremonial walk.

  • Guests can watch from inside the graduate's vehicle, as well as on the Bucks website where the event will be streamed live
  • Students will be provided one car pass/ticket to the event. For the safety of our graduates, guests and children must remain in the graduate’s car during the ceremony. Additional cars cannot be accommodated
  • All students and their families must follow our Campus Guidelines
  • Bucks academic regalia (cap, gown, tassel) is required to be worn during the ceremony

Grad Fair

Our Grad Fairs will be a drive-up event where graduates can pick up Bucks graduation bags full of gifts, Bucks branded items, yard signs, alumni pins, and more.

  • All Campuses (Newtown, Lower Bucks, and Upper Bucks)
  • The Grad Fair will be in the parking lot. Please follow the directional signs.
  • Students earning Latin Honors may pick up honors cords to wear during the ceremony.

Grad Fair Photo Opportunities

On May 19 & May 20, there will be opportunities on all three of our campuses for graduates to take photos. We encourage graduates to bring their cap + gown to wear in these photos since there will not be an on-campus photo opportunity following the commencement ceremonies on May 22.

We will also have a custom Snapchat and Instagram lens created for the class of 2021 that graduates can use during the Grad Fair.

Newtown Campus will be a posed photo opportunity in front of Tyler Hall.
Upper Bucks Campus & Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks will have a custom commencement backdrop photo opportunity located within the Grad Fair.

During the Grad Fair days there will not be a professional photographer on-site, so please be sure to bring a phone or camera to take pictures. Staff and volunteers will be available to assist if needed.

Note: Due to campus construction and COVID-19 restrictions, you will not be permitted to take photos anywhere else on our campuses outside of the designated locations mentioned above.

Frequently Asked Questions

Photos on campus

To keep things running smoothly on May 22, and in accordance with COVID-19 safety precautions and procedures, we, unfortunately, cannot permit photos to be taken on campus following any of the on-campus ceremonies. However, as in previous years, there will be a professional photographer taking photos of each individual graduate as they receive their diploma. These photos will be available for purchase in the weeks following the ceremony.

We encourage students to take advantage of the photo opportunities provided during our Grad Fair events outlined above.

  • Why can’t I take pictures after my ceremony?

May 22 is a busy day of celebration! We will be hosting two degree program commencement ceremonies in addition to our fire school graduation and an accepted students day. In order to ensure that all graduates can arrive on time for their ceremony, and in accordance with COVID-19 safety precautions and procedures, we unfortunately cannot permit photos to be taken on campus following any of the ceremonies. This is why we are providing you with the opportunity to take photos during the Grad Fair days on our campuses.

  • Do I have to wear my mask while taking photos?

At all times while on campus, we require that you wear a mask and practice social distancing when not taking your photos at the designated campus locations. You may take off your mask temporarily when posing for photos.

  • Can I come to campus just to take photos?

If you do not want to participate in the Grad Fair, you are certainly welcome to visit any of our campus locations during the Grad Fair times on May 19 and May 20 to take photos in the designated locations.

However, we do encourage you to participate in the Grad Fair itself–most of the items are gifts for you as a graduate!

  • Can I bring my family with me to take photos?

Yes! Since we, unfortunately, cannot permit photos to be taken following any of the on-campus ceremonies on May 22, this is a great opportunity to take photos in our designated campus locations that you would typically take after your commencement ceremony. We simply ask that your family members abide by the same rules we ask of all of our campus guests: wearing a mask and practicing social distancing when not taking photos with you at the designated campus locations.

  • Am I required to attend the Commencement Ceremony?

Participation in the Commencement Ceremony is not required.

  • How do I obtain my diploma or certificate if I do not attend the Commencement Ceremony?

Diplomas and certificates will not be handed out at Commencement. Diplomas and certificates are mailed to the home address on your student record. You should receive the paper diploma 4-6 weeks after the end of your graduation term. An email will be sent to your Bucks email, from Parchment, with a digital/downloadable copy of your diploma or certificate.

  • Will diplomas and certificates be handed out at Commencement?

  • What size vehicle can be accommodated for the ceremony?

Due to COVID-19, the current CDC guidelines, and the safety of our graduates and families, we are asking that you arrive in a vehicle that would fit in a standard size parking space. We cannot accommodate larger vehicles or additional parking/car tags for more than one standard size vehicle.
