AD Nursing Clinical Component Information & Application

Fall Semester Application Open from December 15 to February 15

Applying to the Clinical Component

  • Anyone can apply; however, an application does not guarantee admission, but you cannot be accepted if you don't apply. Every year the applicant pool changes.
  • There is not a set number of credits you need to have completed, but you do need to meet high school requirements and have the standardized test scores submitted.
  • There are no paper applications.
  • You do not need an appointment with a nursing faculty member to apply.
  • You may ask your assigned advisor for guidance.
  • Your application must be accurate.
    • Please check your Student Planning Module for correct grades and information

Conditional Acceptance into the Clinical Component of Nursing

Students must:

  1. Be currently enrolled in the College, and have taken the three placement tests;
  2. Meet high school requirements;
  3. Have a grade of B in BIOL181 (Anatomy & Physiology I), BIOL182 (Anatomy & Physiology II), and BIOL228 (Microbiology), IF these courses have been taken before applying for admission into the Clinical Component of Nursing;
  4. Have a grade of C or better in ALL courses required in the Nursing Program of Study, IF these courses have been taken before applying for admission in the Clinical Component of Nursing;

    All program of study courses, with a grade of less than required, taken prior to entry into the Clinical Component of the Nursing Program, MUST be repeated before acceptance into the clinical component;
  5. Have taken BIOL 181, BIOL 182, BIOL 228, HLTH 120N, and PSYC 110, within the seven (7) years prior to acceptance into the Clinical Component of the Nursing Program, for those courses to be considered current and valid for admission;
  6. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 at BCCC;
  7. Have a pre-entrance exam that meets the requirements of the nursing program. Requirements are outlined in the catalog and Nursing Student Handbook.
  • All applicants, if using TEAS, SAT, or ACT as pre-entrance exam, must have their official TEAS, SAT, or ACT score posted in the Admissions office (sent from ATI or The College Board). In order to be deemed official, the document must be sent, directly from the issuing institution by the application deadline and posted in the student's planning module.

After meeting all the above criteria, applicants are ranked by number of credits completed at BCCC in the ADN Program of Study. After being assigned to the tier of BCCC credits completed in the program of study, applicants will then be ranked by their GPA. Conditional acceptance is considered by the Admission and Progression Committee within each tier, from highest to lowest GPA, first for Bucks County residents and then for out of county residents. The applicant's criteria in place at the time of the application deadline is considered for conditional acceptance.

All students who are conditionally accepted MUST ATTEND the mandatory clinical nursing orientation in the Spring.
