Library Card

How do I get a library card?

You may apply for a Community Library Card at the circulation desk. Please bring a photo ID and proof of County residency. Please bring your card whenever you visit the Library. If you lose your card, a replacement card costs $3.00.

Checking Out Materials

How long may I keep a book?

The normal loan period is 21 days, with up to 2 renewals if not requested by another borrower. Periodicals and reference items do not circulate.

How many books may I borrow?

You may borrow up to 10 titles.

Renewing and Returning Books

Can I renew library materials over the telephone?

Yes. Phone the circulation desk, 215-968-8009.

Do I have to return materials to the library where I checked them out?

College library materials may be returned to any of the three campus libraries. College library materials will not be accepted at the public libraries, nor will public library materials be accepted at the College libraries.

How do I return books when the library is closed?

There is a book drop located at the entrance to the Newtown Campus Library. If a book is overdue and fines are owed, you can still return the books through the book drop and pay the fines at a later date.

Overdue Penalties

What are the fines if I don't return materials on time?

The daily charge for most items is $.10 per day for each item. If materials are not returned after being 30 days overdue, a bill for the cost of replacing the item, accumulated fines, and an $11.00 service charge are issued for each item.

Information Technology

May I use a Library computer?

The computers and software in the Library are primarily for the use of currently enrolled Bucks County Community College students. As a community visitor, you must register at the reference desk and may use a designated workstation for research purposes. Use is limited to one hour if another community visitor is waiting. Please bring a photo ID and proof of County residency. Printing is not available to community visitors, except for the exclusive purpose of printing Government Documents. Please email files and information you need to your home or save to your own portable storage device.

May I bring my laptop to the library?

Wireless connections are available for personal laptops. However, be aware that we cannot assist with problems in your own computer.

Do I have access to the Library's databases?

You may gain access to the Library's subscription databases by registering to use a Library computer or bringing a personal laptop to the Library. It is not possible to access our databases from off campus.

Are photocopiers and microfilm readers available?

There are photocopiers available on all campuses; copies are $.10 per page. Microfilm readers are available on the Newtown campus only. You may email images or save them to your portable storage device, but printing is not available.

Alumni Benefits

All Bucks alumni who live in the County may apply for a Community Library Card at the circulation desk. Please bring a photo ID and proof of County residency. See the College's Alumni Benefits page for additional information.
