Still Life Painting: Developing Visual Perception. Learning to See. RFNRT 9039 C70 & C01

Tuition: $199.00
Instructor: David Stier
Where & When: (C70) Upper Bucks Campus 6 Wed, 6/17 - 7/22 6 - 9pm (C01) Newtown Campus 6 Mon, 6/15 - 7/20 6 - 9pm

Great artists are able to see the miraculous in ordinary objects. Seeing is a subjective experience that can be deepened by learning to draw and paint and by shifting all our attention to our visual perception. Topics include finding composition; using values to develop form and space and to engage our visual imaginations; exploring the differences between prismatic and earth palettes; and painting with the palette knife and variety of brushes. This “alla prima” painting class is individualized and will include demonstrations and lectures. All levels are welcome.

Impressionist Floral Painting (Upper Bucks Campus) RFNRT 8095 C70

Tuition: $269.00
Instructor: Charles Browning
Where & When: Upper Bucks Campus, Perkasie 8 Thurs, 6/4 - 7/23 3:00 - 5:30pm

Try a different way of painting and learn how to make a beautiful visual experience in paint! We will work from a floral still life, building up soft, textured layers of paint in the manner of Monet, Renoir, and Pissarro. Exploring Impressionism is a great way for beginners to get into painting or for more experienced painters to expand their skills. Because of its inherent looseness, Impressionism takes the pressure off the early stages of the painting. Students can ease into making their initial brushstrokes free of concerns of accuracy or representation, gradually developing the subject. In this class we will use a process to mimic Impressionism and build our own Impressionist-style painting.

Note: Please bring whatever materials you have, and a supply list will be given out the first night of class.
