Live Online Art Classes for Fall 2020
INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING - Live Online RFNRT 8066 C01

you will learn how to recognize types of edges, lines, and angles; how to recognize proportion and perspecitve; how to render light, shadow, and highlights by the use of gradatoins of tone; and how to be creative.
In this eight-week course, you will learn to approach drawing in a logical way.
- about tools, surfaces and supports they need for their assignments; how to transfer and resize artwork; and how to use construction lines, grids, contours, and negative and positive shapes.
- the effects that lines and shapes imply in drawing.
- the illusion of form and depth as it applies to perspective, contrast and volume.
- how to apply shading to their drawings.
- the principle of art and design and the elements of composition.
- the identity, relationships and psychology of colors.
- how to draw various textures and check their drawings for common errors.
You will be expected to complete drawing exercises or assignments each week. The instructor will review and critique each week’s drawing assignments. You will create a drawing of their choosing as a final project. You will be sharing and critiquing each other’s final projects.
Norman F. Simms was born in Washington, DC in 1956. After graduating from Art Instructions Schools, he pursued a passion for fine arts at Murray State University. He graduated from the Washington School for Drafting Technology, the Center for Degree Studies with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, and the Academy of Art with a Masters Degree in Fine Arts.
He creates dynamic paintings and drawings of various medium. He has exhibited his artworks regionally in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York City. He has received the “Palmer Award for Excellence” at the Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie for his oil painting, “The Artist and his Model”. His pastel paintings, “Butterfly Dance”, “Reflection”, and “Blossom”, have been featured in “The Best of America Pastel Artists Volume II”. His oil painting, “The Artist and his Model”, has also been published in the book, “Important World Artists Vol. I, A World of Art”.
He is a member of the national fine arts organizations, Portrait Society of America, The Pastel Society of America, and Oil Painters of America. He is also a member of the local art organizations, Artsbridge, Artists of Yardley, and Artists of Bristol.
He lives in Fairless Hills, PA, teaching group and private art lessons. He has also published two books, Portrait and Nude Painting & Philosophies, and Interview between the Jackass and the Artist. He is currently working on several books on the subject matters of portraiture, expressions in art, and technique and practices in fine arts.

Gouache Painting - Live Online RFNRT 8067 C01

You will learn the fundamentals of painting in gouache discovering essential techniques and practice painting in a variety of environments. You will learn about different surfaces such as mylar, toned papers, brushes, brands of gouache, and painters that use gouache and how to apply gouache at its right consistency. Open to all water based media such as: Gouache, watercolor,ink, acrylic gouache and acrylics.
Emily Rose Hirtle is from Westerville, Ohio she attended “The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and received her BFA and Certificate in Painting in 2017. In May of 2019 she received her MFA in Drawing from “The New York Academy of Art”. Her work is part of numerous collections such as: The Linda Lee Alter Collection in Philadelphia, PA. Actress and Model Brooke Shield’s and Actor Aidan Turner. She is a practicing Artist and a Drawing/ Painting instructor for numerous institutions in Philadelphia, PA.
Animal Drawing and Painting - Live Online RFNRT 8074 C01

We will be drawing from life, using photo reference, examining master copies and working form memory as well. You will delve into a range of dry and wet media. You will learn various drawing approaches as you explore with a variety of media and material. We will focus on technical accuracy with an emphasis on your calligraphy.
Elevate Your Environment - Live Online RFNRT 8076 C01

Play with color, line and form in an exploration of what makes a space feel good, what makes the environment around you healthy, and how to bring more of those good vibes forward in your world. You will learn how to make artistic paper collages together while sharing them over video, with you being offered the opportunity to have your work digitally published by Maia’s company ASEI Arts at the conclusion of the course.
