- VI. Catalog Course Description
- This course provides the basic concepts of patient care as well as ethical and legal considerations. The screening, safety and application protocols for MRI Imaging are discussed. Students review basic concepts of venipuncture, administration of contrast and agents and discuss the appropriate delivery of patient care during contrast procedures.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- identify the role of the MRI technologist in the patient's health care;
- evaluate proper procedures for contrast administration;
- examine patient screening criteria for MRI safety;
- demonstrate proper procedures for determining vital signs, lab values, and basic venipuncture procedure; and
- discuss the biological harms produced by radiofrequency (RF) field, static, gradient, magnetic fields, and acoustic noise.
