- VI. Catalog Course Description
- This course examine knowledge, skills, attitudes, and acquired competencies necessary to care for adults and families. Concepts and clinical decision-making strategies are explored, providing evidence-based care to adults and child-bearing families utilizing the nursing process and clinical judgement. Simulation and clinical experiences increasing health/illness complexity reflect diverse patient populations.

Upon completion of this course the student will:
- Utilize clinical decision-making strategies in the provision of evidence-based nursing care to adults and child-rearing families;
- Implement strategies for communication with patients, child-rearing families, and their support systems across the lifespan;
- Apply principles of safe nursing care to selected concepts and specific health issues;
- Assume autonomy in nursing practice within legal, ethical, and regulatory frameworks of the student nurse; and
- Demonstrate skill in using patient care technology and informatics appropriately to support safe, quality nursing practice.
