College Readiness Skills for Students with ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome
Students who present with Asperger’s and ASDs may excel academically through high school however data shows that these bright students have a very high likelihood of dropping out of college due to their challenges around executive function skills, self-advocacy and navigating new social situations. Throughout the four sessions, students will review the following: understanding our number system, algebraic expressions and equations, functions, geometry and measurement, data and statistics,probability, and overall skills in problem solving, reasoning, and mathematical communication. Over 100 test-type questions will be practiced to familiarize students with the types of questions typically given on standardized math tests. Free GED® Test Preparation Classes are available at Bucks County Community College’s Lower and Upper Bucks Campuses. Classes cover the academic knowledge needed to pass the GED® test subjects. Our comprehensive classes strengthen your communication, information processing, problem solving, and critical thinking skills as well – necessary skills for success in the workplace and in life in general. The General Education Development (GED®) credential, earned by passing the GED® tests, is nationally recognized by U.S. employers, colleges, and universities. Classes are free to Pennsylvania residents 18 years of age and older. Funding is provided through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
