VI. Catalog Course Description
This course provides an introduction to the laws involving the administration of government by various departments, agencies, boards and commissions that implement and enforce law and policy. Students learn the laws and procedures that affect the administrative decision-making processes on a local, state and federal government level.
VII. Required Course Content and Direction
  1. Course Learning Goals

    Students will:

    1. Discuss the scope and application of administrative law;
    2. Describe and explain the constitutional and statutory legal basis of administrative law and administration agencies on local, state and federal level of government;
    3. Identify and summarize the rules, procedures and practices of government departments, agencies, boards and commissions for making rules, conducting hearings and making decisions;
    4. Analyze the scope of authority and jurisdiction for various governmental departments, agencies, boards and commissions;
    5. Discuss the administrative, quasi-legislative and quasi-judicial functions of the administrative departments; and
    6. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of a legislative body, courts, statutory limits on governmental immunity and the constitution in limiting the exercise of power and authority by state, federal and local government departments, agencies, board, and commissions.
