  6. Catalog Course Description

    An introductory course in the practical application and study of current accounting software. The course provides an overview, in a computerized accounting environment, of the manual accounting concepts that were learned in fundamental accounting classes.

  7. Required Course Content and Direction

    1. Learning Goals:

      The student will be able to:

      1. use the basic Peachtree accounting software in further academic study in accounting or in employment.
      2. demonstrate the integration of manual accounting procedures into the computerized accounting environment.
      3. complete simulated company exercises with hands-on work with the computer.
      4. update and maintain company financial information files on the computer.

      1. Installing Peachtree Accounting software and data files
      2. Entering the company chart of accounts and beginning balances
      3. Working with the general journal entry window
      4. Working with the account reconciliation window
      5. Displaying and printing reports
      6. Using the report filter
      7. Changing accounting periods
      8. Working with payroll data entry
      9. Using the sales/invoicing window
      10. Entering purchase transactions
      11. Entering payment transactions
      12. Backing up and restoring data files
