Students explore current issues with historical and philosophical background including inclusionary practices, curriculum development, cultural diversity, research, and developmentally appropriate practice in the Pre K-4 setting. The course includes five hours of observation -

Learning Goals:
- Course Students will:
- design lessons based on early childhood education foundations, theory, National Association for the Education of Young Children NAEYC standards, and policy;
- explain the uniqueness of the young child and demonstrate how to work with young children in a way that corresponds with the developmental level of that child;
- demonstrate knowledge of social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of the PreK-4 child; and
- demonstrate knowledge of current identification criteria related to diverse learners.
