Camp Cancellation Information
- Please make sure you register early to help avoid camp cancellations.
- The week before a camp is scheduled to run, we look at the enrollment numbers and will make a final decision if a camp has enough registrations to run. If we need to cancel a camp due to low enrollment, our Registration Office will notify you. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
- If we need to cancel a camp for any reason, we will make every attempt to place your camper in another camp. Otherwise, we will give you a full refund for the camp that we cancelled.
- If you decide to move your camper to another camp and that camp has a higher price point than the camp we cancelled, you will need to pay the difference. This is due to the camp supplies fees that are included in the price of the camp.
- If you decide to move your camper to another camp and that camp has a lower price point than the camp we cancelled, we will refund you the difference.

Spring into a medley of science! Learn about the Earth and its animal inhabitants, simple machines, rocketry, and chemical reactions; there’s something for everyone! Build and race a car, concoct creations with chemistry, analyze animal tracks and cap off the week with a rocket launch!
Robots: Paths to Power
Explore the discoveries and inventions that have made robots possible. From learning how robots light up to getting them moving with gears. After learning the fundamentals, we will experiment with different sources of energy and even get to take a hand-powered generator home. We will see how these energy sources affect the environment and how they compare with sustainable energy while thinking about future energy sources!

Make Your First 3D Video Game
In this Black Rocket classic, you will go well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2D game design classes and create an immersive 3D world. Campers will learn the physics behind 3D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling the flow of gameplay, and storytelling. Camper projects will be available on the password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Projects are only compatible with Windows devices. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
ROBLOX Makers
Unlock the power of ROBLOX Studio, the world creation tool used by real-world ROBLOX developers. Learn how to build 3D models and create an adventure in your ROBLOX world. Bring characters to life with unique animations you design. Camper created projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with family and friends. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

This camp focuses on teaching the rules of chess and how the pieces move, along with describing chess using correct terminology. Campers learn how chess increases critical thinking and pattern recognition skills, as well as a historical overview of the game. Campers will learn the basic concepts about the three phases of the game, which are the opening, middlegame, and endgame. Instructional exercises include checkmating patterns, introduction to basic openings, and strategic and tactical goals of the game. Campers will learn how to play a game of chess and record it using chess notation.

Step into the shoes of a detective-uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Using your observational skills, collect evidence and analyze the clues left behind. Recreate the scene of a crime using schematics. Use science to connect the dots and help sniff out the suspects in this hands-on investigation into the science of sleuthing!

Here at Minecraft Architects, campers will enter a collaboratively built Minecraft world with their fellow campers to learn about different kinds of architecture and how to replicate it in Minecraft! Campers will be expected to be able to sign into their own Minecraft account if they have one. (Minecraft account suggested but not required)
Lego Animation 1 RCHYC 5031 C01
*For each day of camp, campers will experience some instruction and examples before going off to work independently or in a group. This camp is designed to give campers as much lab time as possible to work on their creations.
In this dynamic week of camp, campers will create their own stop motion films from scratch, using Lego bricks! The instructor will be there every step of the way, helping you create your very own stop motion video! You will learn the animation process; create a workspace, develop a story, build a set, and shoot a stop motion animation using a smartphone/iPad, the app, Stop Motion Studio Pro! and Lego mini-figs.
Campers will need to bring their own Legos. Campers will be responsible for their own Lego sets and will not be sharing them with other campers in this camp.
Playing Golf at Bucks RCHYC 6088 C02
Participants will be provided opportunities to exercise hand-eye coordination while learning to properly grip, set up, align, and swing a variety of sized golf clubs in a safe and fun environment. All levels of ability will be met with appropriate age-related skills and games. The focus of this camp is to generate interest and fun with golf. It is recommended that campers bring extra water and campers bring their own golf clubs.

Here's your opportunity to express your most creative self in a myriad of art projects! You will gain confidence as you spontaneously create imaginative works of art that reflect your own unique self. You will learn about and use many different techniques and media, including printmaking, drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and weaving. Discover the best in yourself. Intro to Film and TV Camp RCHYC 6166 C01
*Campers work in teams and learn both in front and behind the camera learning various roles for show-creation. Green screens are used behind them to allow the projecting of cool graphics onto the background. For this reason, campers are urged not to wear green attire.
Your camper will work as cast and crew teams in this innovative cool camp. Campers are taught the basic levels of acting, directing, voice-over, operating the camera and working on green screen. Script writing, storyboarding and improvisation will also be introduced. Each day is different as they create projects such as commercials, film scenes, music videos and public service announcements. A huge benefit of this camp is increasing memory, reading skills and confidence.
Materials Campers need to bring each day to camp: A notebook, pen, and pencil.
After camp, all footage is sent to a professional editor. A digital film will be emailed to you. Allow up to 3 months editing.

Participants will be provided opportunities to exercise hand-eye coordination while learning to use proper grip of the paddle, footwork, swing coordination hitting the ball and stroke coordination hitting a serve, ground stroke and volley. Game scoring and team cooperation will be introduced and will support different levels of ability. The focus of this camp is on cooperation and fun. It is recommended that campers bring extra water.

Flag Football Camp will focus on building basic football fundamentals in a positive environment. Led by an instructor with 25 years coaching experience on the college level, we will teach the fast-paced game of flag football in a fun and safe way. This camp is a great opportunity to try all positions, learn football strategy, develop skills, and gain confidence. **Auditions are held on the first day of camp. If your camper misses the first day of camp, then your camper will be assigned a remaining part for the play.
A more advanced Musical Theatre Camp for campers that have a desire to perform onstage. Campers will learn to sing, act, and dance. A full-length Junior/Youth Musical will be performed. There will be two performances on the final two days of camp. Auditions will be held on the first day of camp. The music for the play will be rehearsed in the mornings and the dancing and staging will be in the afternoons. This Summer’s performance will be James and the Giant Peach, Jr.

NASA: STEM Explorers
Developed in partnership with NASA, our campers will think and act like NASA innovators during this hands-on program inspired by the NASA OPTIMUS PRIME Research Challenge. Use creative and collaborative skills to design a mission patch, train like an astronaut, build a Mars rover and solve real-world engineering problems. How might you use space suit cooling tubes to solve a problem here on Earth?

Floral Designs and DIY RCHYC 6237 C01
Flower fun for everyone! Campers will learn the language of flowers and express their creativity through a variety of activities that use fresh, artificial, and pressed flowers and plants. Campers will learn how to make corsages, wrap bouquets, and arrange flowers in a vase. We will also take a nature walk to Tyler State Park*, plant seeds in planters, and make our own candles. To finish the week, we will have a flower show for families to view camper creations.
*We will be doing a half-day trip to Tyler State Park to walk around and eat lunch. There is lots of shade, but sunscreen, bug spray, and extra water are recommended. If desired, have your camper bring extra socks/shoes or water shoes.

Have you ever wanted to be able to create your own action figures from your favorite tv show or movie, or create an articulating model of a cute baby octopus? This introduction to 3D printing course teaches campers how to create their very own 3D plastic models. Campers will learn the basic principles of 3D modeling using the open-source online software Tinkercad. This course will introduce campers to introductory engineering design skills and provide hands on experience with one of the latest technologies in the STEM field. Campers will get to design their own model, print the model, and take it home with them by the end of the course. 3D printing is not only a fun experience, but it is also educational!

*For each day of camp, campers will experience some instruction and examples before going off to work independently or in a group. This camp is designed to give campers as much lab time as possible to work on their creations.
Making comics! Over the course of this camp, campers will develop a story, create characters, learn about writing dialogue, inking, adding color, creating panels, speech bubbles; and finally make their own short comic strip and/or create the beginning of their own comic masterpiece. This course will help students understand how music can be created digitally with the use of audio loops and MIDI. GarageBand software will be used to compose musical works. Please bring headphones with 1/8’’ and 1/4’’ adapters.

Campers learn different types of debate forms (Lincoln Douglas, Parliamentary, etc.) as well as how to research, validate and present their positions in order to be successful in the debate process. Over the course of the week, they will be taught and will practice persuasive speaking skills, as they learn the different techniques of debate. On the last day of camp, the campers debate their topics in front of an audience.

*Campers work in teams and learn both in front and behind the camera learning various roles for show-creation. Green screens are used behind them to allow the projecting of cool graphics onto the background. For this reason, campers are urged not to wear green attire.
This camp is perfect for the aspiring young ‘actors’ in your household. It is here they will learn real auditioning skills by working with scripts for commercials and film readings. Your camper will learn how to personalize characters and follow directions, block for camera, and read with their ‘co-stars’. Voiceover will also be introduced. Improvisation and ad-libbing (off the script) will be taught as a basis of making acting choices and trusting their instincts. A huge benefit of this camp is increasing memory, reading skills and confidence. Included in this camp is a take-home tutorial showing you ways to find acting jobs as well as a list of legitimate talent agencies.

This camp focuses on refining opening theory, improving the integration of piece development, attacking play, and understanding endgame technique. Campers will integrate opening, middlegame, and endgame concepts while improving skills of pattern recognition and defensive resources. Campers will analyze their own games, along with famous games, to better understand the weakness and strengths of their chess methodology and strategic vision. Campers learn how to specialize in two openings of both colors that suit their strategic and tactical strengths. They will also learn nuances of the concepts of chess imbalances and dynamisms.

Campers research content and develop projects from creating the script, directing, role-plays, and hosting skills.

Explore the variety of content and personalities that exist on YouTube and how to find your own niche. Learn the Dos and Don’ts of the platform and how to practice good digital citizenship. Develop your on-camera presence, your own channel branding, and professional editing skills. Take home a plan for launching your own channel with the content created in class. Camper projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
Young Coders
Develop our skills as a young coder exploring block coding, JavaScript, and Python concepts while making your own playable mini-games. This introductory coding course is designed to get elementary-aged campers excited about technology through a series of hands-on and engaging learning challenges. Camper created games will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
Flag Football RCHYC 6127 C02
Flag Football Camp will focus on building basic football fundamentals in a positive environment. Led by an instructor with 25 years coaching experience on the college level, we will teach the fast-paced game of flag football in a fun and safe way. This camp is a great opportunity to try all positions, learn football strategy, develop skills, and gain confidence. We will conduct every drill and competition with an emphasis on being a great teammate! All skill levels are welcome and encouraged! No Cleats required.

This camp focuses on refining opening theory, improving the integration of piece development, attacking play, and understanding endgame technique. Campers will integrate opening, middlegame, and endgame concepts while improving skills of pattern recognition and defensive resources. Campers will analyze their own games, along with famous games, to better understand the weakness and strengths of their chess methodology and strategic vision. Campers learn how to specialize in two openings of both colors that suit their strategic and tactical strengths. They will also learn nuances of the concepts of chess imbalances and dynamisms.

Kids on Campus After Care for Week 7 - July 29-August 2, 2024
After Care Hours – 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Parents/Guardians must register their camper for After Care the Monday before camper’s camp begins. Campers who are enrolled in the After Care program will be taken to After Care at the end of the regular camp day. The After Care Program is located in the Solarium Room in the Rollins building on campus. Parents/Guardians must show Photo I.D. when picking up their camper.
Parents/Guardians must talk with the After Care Leader for any issues and/or concerns that occurred during After Care hours.
Minecraft Architects RCHYC 6257 C05
Have you ever wanted to impress your friends with some EPIC Minecraft building skills, but don't know where to start? Here at Minecraft Architects, campers will enter a collaboratively built Minecraft world with their fellow campers to learn about different kinds of architecture and how to replicate it in Minecraft! Campers will be expected to be able to sign into their own Minecraft account if they have one. (Minecraft account suggested but not required)

*Prerequisite: Campers must be proficient in how to play the instrument that they bring to camp. Instruments are not provided; campers must bring their own.
This is a one-week intensive session in which jazz theory, history, and practical application are combined in an ensemble format that is both fun and instructive. Any and all instruments are welcome!
Pickleball Camp RCHYC 6241 C02
Participants will be provided opportunities to exercise hand-eye coordination while learning to use proper grip of the paddle, footwork, swing coordination hitting the ball and stroke coordination hitting a serve, ground stroke and volley. Game scoring and team cooperation will be introduced and will support different levels of ability. The focus of this camp is on cooperation and fun. It is recommended that campers bring extra water.
Intro to Film and TV Camp RCHYC 6166 C02
*Campers work in teams and learn both in front and behind the camera learning various roles for show-creation. Green screens are used behind them to allow the projecting of cool graphics onto the background. For this reason, campers are urged not to wear green attire.
Your camper will work as cast and crew teams in this innovative cool camp. Campers are taught the basic levels of acting, directing, voice-over, operating the camera and working on green screen. Script writing, storyboarding and improvisation will also be introduced. Each day is different as they create projects such as commercials, film scenes, music videos and public service announcements. A huge benefit of this camp is increasing memory, reading skills and confidence.
Materials Campers need to bring each day to camp: A notebook, pen, and pencil.
After camp, all footage is sent to a professional editor. A digital film will be emailed to you. Allow up to 3 months editing.

Have you ever wanted to create a secret box that looks like something else or an articulated model of your pet? This course is a continuation of Introduction to 3D Printing and Modeling, though taking both is not required. Campers will learn basic and intermediate principles of 3D modeling using the open-source online software Tinkercad. This course will help campers enhance their engineering design skills and learn about the prototyping process as they design an articulated or multi-part 3D model that they will print, assemble, and get to take home with them by the end of the course. 3D printing something functional is not only exciting and rewarding, but helps students learn about one of the latest technologies in the STEM field!

In this camp, campers will focus on storyboarding, creative writing, critical thinking skills, and drafting to create a one-of-a-kind book! We will work on writing, drawing, and painting to create our finished product.

Bring your animations to life with design tools used by real game developers. Create sophisticated sprite animations using simple-to-learn techniques that you can use in any 2D editor. Squash, stretch, and shade your creations to make your characters pop. Campers do not need any prior experience in game design, animation, or sketching. Python Programmers
Learn how to code with Python to create engaging apps and games. Each lesson takes you step-by-step on a programming path that will let you challenge friends with fun content you create from start to finish. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years. Campers will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Our Lego Brixology camp was developed in partnership with Lego Master Builders! Team up to build exclusive creations that will test your engineering abilities! Build carnival rides, paddle boats, mechanical animals, and even a vehicle that moves. Try your hand at nautical, structural, and even biomechanical engineering! Let the tinkering begin!
Underground Explorers
Learn about archaeology and the techniques scientists use to excavate long lost cities. Discover ancient civilizations and the tools and artifacts they used in everyday life. Study bone fragments, pottery shards, amber deposits, and fossils to understand what they can tell us about history. Make incredible projects to take home, like an amber time capsule and antique coins from around the world!
There is a $75 non-refundable fee for any cancellations and/orcamper transfer out of a Mad Science Camp.

Mock Trial 2 RCHYC 5725 C02
*Prerequisite: Students need to have taken Mock Trial 1 before taking Mock Trial 2
Campers will use the basic trial skills that they learned in Mock Trial 1 and add to them, by learning how to qualify an expert and how to introduce archival documents into evidence. They will research the historical topic selected for the trial and will write witness statements for each witness as well as an “expert” historian. On the last day of camp, they will present the trial to a jury.

*Campers work in teams and learn both in front and behind the camera learning various roles for show-creation. Green screens are used behind them to allow the projecting of cool graphics onto the background. For this reason, campers are urged not to wear green attire.
This camp is perfect for the aspiring young ‘actors’ in your household. It is here they will learn real auditioning skills by working with scripts for commercials and film readings. Your camper will learn how to personalize characters and follow directions, block for camera, and read with their ‘co-stars’. Voiceover will also be introduced. Improvisation and ad-libbing (off the script) will be taught as a basis of making acting choices and trusting their instincts. A huge benefit of this camp is increasing memory, reading skills and confidence. Included in this camp is a take-home tutorial showing you ways to find acting jobs as well as a list of legitimate talent agencies.

Campers will construct machine learning models that use image and text recognition within block-based coding software to build a portfolio of projects. Sports Clinic RCHYC 6258 C05
Campers who attend this Sports Clinic Camp will be sampling various sports. We will focus on basketball for two days, football for two days and one day focusing on lacrosse. Each day will begin with an introduction to the game along with covering rules, expectations, and guidelines. Campers will then be focusing on practicing skills, such as passing, catching, defensive stance, etc. In the afternoon, the campers will be implementing the skills they learned into various games. It is highly recommended that campers bring extra water and sunscreen to self-apply since we will also be outside, especially for football and lacrosse.
