Explore All that Bucks Has to Offer at Fall Open House
Free event 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sat. Oct. 19 at the Newtown Campus features tours, representatives from academic departments, and more
Bucks County Community College is hosting an open house for prospective students and their parents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 19, on the Newtown Campus.
The free event is based in the Linksz Pavilion – the spacious hall connecting the Rollins Center student union building with the Gymnasium – and includes tours throughout the campus.
Director of Admissions Marlene Barlow says the semiannual open house is a great opportunity to learn how Bucks can help you reach your educational goals.
“People may be surprised to learn that we’re a competitive choice among college options,” said Barlow. “We continue to introduce new programs to match career opportunities, such as Medical Lab Technician, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and Global Studies/World Languages.”
Representatives from seven academic departments, which offer more than 80 majors that lead to either a two-year associate degree or shorter-term certificate, will be available to answer questions and provide information. Officials from the college’s financial aid and other student-services departments will also be on hand. Professors will be in attendance to answer questions, while student ambassadors will lead campus tours, including visits to Arts Department studios and science labs.
“There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and tour the campus to see how Bucks is the best place to start your college career,” Barlow added.
New this fall will be breakout sessions to discover how virtual reality is modernizing the college classroom, and how to take college classes while still in high school. Light refreshments will be served.
After attending Bucks, most students transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree, while others directly enter the workforce to launch a career. Courses can be taken at the original campus in Newtown, the Upper Bucks Campus in Perkasie, the Gene and Marlene Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks in Bristol, and online through the college’s award-winning virtual campus.
Bucks, which has maintained an open-admissions policy for more than 50 years, is accepting applications for the spring semester that starts January 22. There’s also time to register for accelerated courses that start December 16. Tuition is only $165 a credit for Bucks County residents (other fees apply).
