THE BUCKS COUNTY SHORT FICTION CONTEST IS CALLING FOR ENTRIES

(Newtown, PA) – The Bucks County Short Fiction Contest is calling for entries, for the Fall 2022 contest. The contest is open to Bucks County residents who are 18 or older, and are not employees of Bucks County Community College. The top three winners will receive gift cards of $200, $100, and $50, and will share their work at a celebratory reading in November. We will be joined by this fall’s final judge, novelist Margarita Montimore.

 

The deadline for submissions is noontime of Thurs., Oct. 13, 2022. Stories must be previously unpublished, including in blogs and online platforms, and must be submitted online. Complete rules and the submissions link are available at bucks.edu/shortfictioncontest.

 

The final judge this year is Margarita Montimore, author of Asleep from Day and Oona Out of Order, a USA Today bestseller and Good Morning America Book Club pick. Her most recent novel, Acts of Violet, was published by Flatiron Books on July 5. The new novel has been named a Most Anticipated Book by BookRiot, Goodreads, Katie Couric Media, SheReads, and more.

 

Montimore received a BFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College, then worked for more than a decade in publishing and social media before focusing on writing full-time. Born in Soviet Ukraine and raised in Brooklyn, she currently lives in New Jersey with her husband and dog.
