- This is an introductory course in the field of records management. Alphabetic filing rules is covered, along with methods of storing and retrieving alphabetic, subject, numeric, and geographic records consistent with ARMA (Association of Records Managers and Administrators, Inc.) filing rules.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- demonstrate an understanding of how records are managed within the context of a business system;
- know how to collect, retain, store, retrieve, transport, use, dispose, and process records;
- apply the rules of alphabetic, numeric, subject, and geographic filing, according to ARMA guidelines;
- utilize automated filing software to organize electronic records according to ARMA guidelines;
- demonstrate an understanding of correspondence, business forms, cards, records, and microrecords; and
- demonstrate an understanding of the evaluation process of a records system.
