& STUDENTS DISCOUNTS

    There are many concert presenters offering free and discounted tickets for concerts - particularly for students.
Please find a selection of some the best in the region below:


Philadelphia Orchestra or Ticket Philadelphia at 215.893.1999 offers several discount ticket programs, instructions from their website are below.

   PECO Power Hour: The Philadelphia Orchestra Community Ticket Program The Philadelphia Orchestra makes PECO Power Hour seats available for $10 at the Kimmel Box Office between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm the day of each subscription concert (11:30 am -12:30 pm for 2 pm performances). The seating will be throughout the hall, subject to management selection and availability. Please note that there is a one ticket per person limit for each ticket purchase.
   Student Understudy Program: Advance Purchase For students who desire ultimate flexibility, we offer the Student Understudy Program. A package of four vouchers for $24 may be purchased in advance at the Box Office with a valid student ID. Students may exchange their vouchers for a Student Understudy ticket at the concert of their choice, which gives them the opportunity to sit in any available seat on the Orchestra level. Students should gather at the student sign between the box office and the Spruce Street entrance ten minutes before the concert begins and an usher will escort them into the hall to an available seat.
   Day of Purchase: Beginning one hour before any subscription concert, students with a valid student ID may purchase a Student Understudy ticket for $8 at the box office. Only one ticket may be purchased per ID, and tickets are subject to availability. Prior to the concert, students purchasing Student Understudy tickets on the day of the concert follow the same process as students exchanging advance purchase vouchers. Students can exchange their vouchers at any time during the day of the performance at the box office or over the phone.


Opera Company of Philadelphia or Ticket Philadelphia at (215) 893 - 1999
   Student Rush!   Two hours prior to performance time at the Academy of Music Box Office, students with a valid ID pay only $5 (A BARGAIN!)  for Amphitheatre seating or pay only half price to sit anywhere else in the house. Subject to availability.

   Student Discount Students are eligible for a 10% DISCOUNT ON ADVANCE SALES. Tickets can be purchased by calling Ticket Philadelphia at (215) 893 - 1999 or at The Kimmel Center Box Office, located on the corner of Spruce and Broad Streets (must provide valid student I.D.).


Philadelphia Chamber Music Society or 215-569-8080
   Philadelphia Chamber Music Society presents dozens of chamber music and vocal programs in different venues throughout Philadelphia. They offer a program where students may:
   >Buy a pack of three student ticket vouchers for $24.
   >When there’s a concert you’d like to see, call our box office three days ahead of time or less, and we’ll turn your voucher into a ticket.
   >Bring your voucher to the concert - we’ll have your ticket waiting for you. That’s it. No waiting at the door for a seat, no standing in line for rush tickets, no paying $75 to get the seat you want. It’s simple and it’s cheap.

Concert Opera Philadelphia
        An opera company presenting concert  (non-staged) opera productions.  Student tickets available for $15.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts
    A range of ticketed events for which Student Rush tickets are occasionally available for Kimmel Center Presents performances. Student Rush tickets are $10 and are best available seating, based on prior sales. Students may call 215-893-1999 on the day of the event for availability. When available, Student Rush tickets go on sale 30 minutes before performance time and may be purchased at the Kimmel Center box office with a valid student ID. Limit one per person.

      A limited number of Community Rush tickets are available for every Kimmel Center Presents performance at the Kimmel Center. $10 Community Rush Tickets go on sale the day of the event and can be purchased at the Kimmel Center box office beginning at 5:30pm for evening performances and 11:30am for matinees. Limit one per person.

     The Kimmel Center also offers some 75 free performances per season on the Commonwealth Plaza stage.

Colleges and universities

   Colleges and universities throughout the region present free concerts during the school year as well.     For on-campus programs presented by the Music area at Bucks,  you can find listings of upcoming programs in the glass case immediately inside the New Arts building,  to the left of room 001.  The Music department presents many free programs.
