With the exception of natural-gas furnaces and electric annealing ovens, the glass artist's tools are the same now as they were 2,000 years ago.

For those of you that know (or I should say knew) our shop, we have gone through a transformation last summer. Karl Carter spent many hours working on the studio. Although a lot of work has been done some more is still in progress. Karl has replaced the shelf in the furnace and has placed ramable clay (thanks Greg!) to fill in the empty spaces. This will enable us to get us through another year with this furnace. Our glory hole has gone through many changes, including a low pressure (much quieter) system. We have new doors too! We have turned toward Digitry units for the control of our annealers. Speaking of annealers... Karl is in the process of designing two new annealers. We are looking forward to a very successful semester (preferably one with no stones or cracks!)

We will soon be moving to a different location on campus... actually into a new building - The 3D Arts Building. We will be located near the Hicks Art Center for those of you that are familiar with the campus.

Keep checking back for updates!
