DANTES Testing

Prior Learning Credit is marked CL or LE on the Bucks County Community College transcript. This credit is not automatically accepted by transfer schools, and anyone planning to transfer should look into this matter with the transfer schools(s) concerned, before starting the Prior Learning Assessment process.

The DANTES (Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support) exams, originally created for military personnel, are now available to civilians. BCCC accepts four of them. All DANTES courses can, however, be taken at the BCCC Testing Center & transcripts sent from DANTES to the college of each student's choice.

  2. DANTES Examinations & Transfer: It is the responsibility of all students planning to transfer to ensure that their transfer school is willing to acept DANTES equivalent credit.  If DANTES credit is acceptable, a separate transcript from DANTES will probably be required.

    • The BCCC Library has a current edition of the Official DSST Test Preparation Guide, in the reference section on all three campuses.
    • The Preparation Guide is also available at the BCCC bookstore.
  5. DANTES Testing Site: http://www.bucks.edu/admissions/testing/
    DANTES examinations can be taken at the Testing Center at Bucks.  This is an open test site open to all DANTES candidates for all the DANTES exams, although BCCC accepts only four DANTES exams.

    A government issued ID is required to test (e.g. a driver's license or a non-driver's license State ID card). Underage students who are unable to acquire a State ID card should contact the Director of Testing at 215-968-8466.
