Professor Michael Hoffman Performs Free Solo Jazz Guitar Recital
Concert takes place Monday, November 24, in the Orangery building on the Newtown campus
Dr. Michael Hoffman, a member of the music faculty at Bucks County Community College, steps out of the classroom November 24 to perform a solo jazz guitar recital. The free event takes place at 4:30 p.m. in the Orangery building on the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown, Pa.
Hoffman has worked primarily in the world of jazz. He has written musical arrangements for his own group as well as large ensembles. He has also written for soloists, chamber and percussion ensembles as well as dance and theater groups.
In addition to his solo work, Hoffman directs the BCCC Jazz Orchestra and teaches a variety of music courses from jazz improvisation to music fundamentals.
The November 24 recital marks the debut of Hoffman’s latest CD, “A Guitar is Like a Woman,” which was produced with the support of a Cultural Incentive Grant from the college. Attendees will receive a free copy of the CD. To learn more, contact the professor at 215-504-8595.
