“I established this scholarship to make sure that finances won’t keep these students from reaching their goals and realizing their potential,” said Epstein, who founded the program through the Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian Fund. Bucks County Congressman Patrick Murphy (D-8), a Bucks alumnus, and college officials were also on hand to congratulate the students.

Since more than three-quarters of Bucks graduates eventually reside in Bucks County and contribute to the local economy, Epstein is again challenging local businesses and community groups to contribute to the Bridge to Higher Education Fund. He will match contributions from the first 10 businesses that sponsor a $1,500 award. McCafferty Auto Group and Delaware Valley Scrap Co. rose to the challenge in the program’s first year, each sponsoring one scholarship.

This year, 10 scholarships will be offered to students who are graduates of a Lower Bucks County public high school or technical high school, or a GED graduate who lives in Lower Bucks County, and who has financial need.
