Distant
learning, initially requires a lot more
discipline than traditional classes,
but also offers the freedom to be able
to do the work without taking time out
of my schedule to attend classes, make
arrangement for my children. I have
begun taking courses on campus. I love
the computer and the ability to attend
class and complete all my work online.
I like the mix of distant learning and
campus learning, it provides a nice
balance for me. I can take courses,
work, and maintain a balance in my life.
An orientation is an opportunity
for instructors to provide students with
the information they will need for a Distance
Learning course. An orientation can be presented
in a variety of ways.
Mandatory on-campus
orientation-
you are required to come to the Newtown
campus to meet with your instructor at
a specific time and place. Non-attendance
will seriously jeopardize your success
in the course.
Mandatory online
orientation -
you are required to be in an online chat
room at a specific time. Non-attendance
may seriously jeopardize your success
in the course.
Optional orientation- you decide if
you wish to come to the Newtown campus
to meet with your instructor at a specific
time and place. Orientation information
is also available elsewhere, usually online
or in hard copy format.
Online orientation- all orientation
information is available online for you
to read at your convenience.
