Obtaining Class Materials
Textbooks
Textbooks can be obtained

- Visiting the Newtown
Campus bookstore. Make sure you purchase
the books for the eLearning or Hybrid section
of the course. They might differ from
those used in a face-to-face class. You can search for your textbook information before going to the bookstore by either going to College's bookstore website or following the link on your course's information page.
- Using the online
bookstore, MBS Direct. MBS Direct accepts
mail, fax, phone, and online orders. MBS
Direct specifically stocks the texts you
need for your eLearning and hybrid classes.
- Using a conventional
or online bookstore of your choice. Be
sure you buy the correct edition of the
textbook.

Ancillary Materials
The on-campus and online
bookstore should have any other textbook-related
materials your eLearning and Hybrid learning course requires,
such as supplemental study guides.
If your course has videos,
your instructor will inform you how to obtain
them. Some videos can be either viewed at the
Newtown or branch campus libraries or purchased from
the online or on-campus bookstore. On occasion,
when a recent "movie" video is used, you might
be asked to rent it from a video rental store.

PIN Codes/Access
Codes
Some of our eLearning courses and Hybrid (and face-to-face courses
as well) utilize online course management
systems - usually Bb Vista or Course Compass and/or publisher websites.
Some, but not all, of these courses require
you to purchase an authorization or PIN
code. The first time you enter the online
course management system space and/or publisher website, you will need to enter the
PIN code before you will be granted access
to the site. Most often, a PIN code is
sold as part of the textbook and there is
no need to purchase it separately. If you
do need to purchase it separately (as is the case when you purchase a used textbook), you may
obtain it online from the Blackboard and Course
Compass websites. |

In
distant (online) learning, I purchase all
the resources required for the
course, regardless if they are
optional. I make my plan, I know
all the assignment dates, and
the beginning and end of the semester's,
I fill in all my required assignments
to hand them in early or on time.
By having the schedule, I keep
myself paced and know that I am
not missing a deadline, much like
work.
