What to Expect
rule

Student Quote
Early in the semester, before your other classes get busy, concentrate heavily on your elearning course. That way, when you have research papers, projects, and tests consuming your time from your other classes, you will be ahead in your elearning course. So take advantage of the opportunity to work at your own speed.
-- Dennis Brodsky

  • Expect to learn the same material that you would in a face-to-face class.
  • Expect to spend on average 9-12 hours per week per course. Just because "classroom" time is greatly reduced, it does not mean that learning time is similarly reduced.
  • Expect to have assistance from your instructor. Distance Learning does not mean that you are on your own. Your instructor is available to assist and guide you in your learning and answer your questions throughout the semester.

Comparison Chart of Delivery Methods
The chart below shows examples of how a face-to-face course, an eLearning course, and a Hybrid course might compare. Naturally, the information here is only an example, but it will give you an idea of the similarities and differences between the types of courses. Keep in mind that each course operates differently, depending on the material, instructor, and delivery method.
