cleardot Admission and Registration are conducted no differently for distance learning courses than they are for face-to-face courses. The college does not have a separate admissions policy for distance learning students and there are no extra pre-requisites that a student must meet in order to take a distance learning course.

Things To Know Before You Enroll

  • Consider your strengths as a learner.

For example, if you struggle with math courses when taught in a face-to-face manner, then it probably would not be a good idea to start out in distance learning by taking one.

  • Consider which Distance Learning modalities might work better for you.

For example, if you feel you learn a great deal by being able to discuss things and conduct research, but you don't have the patience to watch a video - an online course might work better for you.

  • Find out as much as you can about the courses you are interested in.

Distance Learning instructors provide detailed information about how their course will be conducted. The information can be found on the Distance Learning section of the BCCC website, or by calling/emailing the Distance Learning office (215-968-8052, learning@bucks.edu).

Important Things To Remember
There are no special pre-requisites for distance learning courses. If a course does have a pre-requisite, then it applies to face-to-face as well as to distance learning.

There are no extra fees or separate tuition involved for Distance Learning courses.

A course may utilize special materials (such as videos or software) that may involve rental or purchase charges when a student wishes to have the convenience of using/viewing those items at home.

If you cannot meet or fulfill any of the special requirements that a Distance Learning course may have (on-campus meetings, Internet access), do not register for the course without first contacting the instructor and discussing your situation.

Distance Learning classes fill up early. Don't wait until the last minute to register!
