| FACILITATORS: |
|
|
TIME |
Participants must commit about five hours of their time per week and log in to the course space about four to five times per week to participate in the online discussions. There are two hefty discussions per week, various readings, and a few short assignments. Reading the course material, reviewing the online information, completing the assignments can be done flexibly, but still within the time frame of moving through the material being focused on at that particular time. There are no synchronous activities, so no one needs to be online at the exact same time and there are no face-to-face requirements either. |
|
MATERIALS |
There are no textbooks. All materials are available in the online course space. |
|
TECHNOLOGY |
A high-speed Internet connection is highly recommended, but not required. |
REGISTRATION: |
Registration is by AAD (credit course faculty) or Supervisor (non-credit course faculty) recommendation. If you wish to participate in OL101, then discuss your interest with your AAD/Supervisor. Usually there are plans in the works with the AADs and Supervisors for OL101 participants to move into teaching either hybrid or eLearning courses fairly soon, so that timeline as well as the course you will be developing for online should be a part of your discussion. If your AAD/Supervisor concurs with your participation in OL101, s/he will send an email to Online Learning confirming your participation. Online Learning will follow-up with you regarding the specific session in which you will participate. |
PREREQUISITE: |
Successful completion of OL100, a self-paced online workshop called Getting Started with Bb Vista. OL100 covers the point and click of the online course management system most broadly used on campus - Bb Vista. OL100 takes about 4 hours for a newbie to work through, much less if you have used other course managment systems. It is entirely self-paced, so it can be completed whenever you have the time - all at once or a bit at a time. You can use Bb Vista to supplement your face-2-face courses. Even if you are not going to be teaching fully online right away, feel free to learn and use Bb Vista now. Contact Carol Seufert in Online Learning if you are interested in OL100. |
