Tyler Tasting Party Chefs 2009Back by popular demand, dancing under the stars returns for the 21st annual Tyler Tasting Party at Bucks County Community College Friday, June 5.  Nearly 500 food and wine lovers are expected to trip the light fantastic from 7 to 11 p.m. in the formal gardens behind historic Tyler Hall.

The party, which has become one of Bucks County’s premiere food and wine events, features more than 40 restaurants, caterers, bakeries, cafes, and confectioners throughout the first floor of the mansion and its gardens. Guests will also have the opportunity to sample wine, beer, and spirits from several purveyors.

Several chefs who will volunteer at the Tyler Tasting Party gather in the formal gardens.

What’s more, silent and live auctions will feature trips, gift cards, and other indulgences, as well as original works of art by local artists, BCCC art faculty and students. The 20-piece Doylestown Heat will provide dance and swing music in an outdoor ballroom under a canopy in the terraced gardens.

The event raises funds for the restoration of Tyler Hall, the 78-year-old French-Norman mansion which served as the home of banker George F. Tyler and his wife, sculptress and patron of the arts Stella Elkins Tyler. The building became the cornerstone of Bucks County Community College when the two-year public school opened its doors in 1965.

The 60-room mansion, now an administration building, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. To date, the Tyler Tasting Party has raised more than a half million dollars for restoration projects.

The Tyler Tasting Party is made possible through the sponsorship of First National Bank and Trust Co. of Newtown, and the work of a 20-person committee of volunteers chaired by Karen Doorley and Kim Stockburger.

Free valet parking provided by Lawrence Lexus is also available at the Tyler Tasting Party, which takes place on the campus at 275 Swamp Road, Newtown. Tickets, at $125 each, can be purchased online, by calling the BCCC Foundation at 215-968-8224, or by e-mail.
