Bucks Invites the Public to Hop on the Bus to a Variety of Locales

Trips and Travel Club heads to Winterthur Museum and Gardens in Delaware,  plus a tour of Tyler Hall & Gardens.

Bucks County Community College’s Trips and Travel Club invites the public to hop on the bus for a variety of day trips leaving from the Newtown campus this spring.  

The club has tickets available to the following destinations. Times listed are the departure and return times to and from the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown, Pa., 18940, where there is ample free parking. Student rates are for Bucks County Community College students with current ID. Tickets include museum admission and transportation as applicable. Tickets can be purchased online at www.bucks.edu/tickets.

  • Tuesday, May 2 – Winterthur Museum & Garden, Winterthur, De. 9 a.m.– 5 p.m. Tickets $50 public, $20 BCCC students. Founded by Henry Francis du Pont, Winterthur is the premier museum of American decorative arts, reflecting both early America and the du Pont family’s life here. Its 60-acre naturalistic garden is among the country’s best. Includes guided tour through the home and tram or self-guided tour of the gardens.  Time for lunch on your own at one of the cafés or bring your own lunch for a picnic.
  • Friday, May 5 – Tyler Hall & Gardens, Newtown, Pa. 3:30 – 5 p.m. Tickets $20 public, $10 BCCC students. Experience the old Tyler Estate on Bucks campus with a guided walk of the beautifully restored formal gardens, a visit to the mansion and a demonstration of restoration projects with preservationist Lyle Rosenberger.  All proceeds benefit Tyler Formal Garden. This is the only tour that does not include transportation, as the mansion is on-site at the Newtown campus.

The Trips and Travel Club is one of more than 40 student clubs and organizations available through Bucks County Community College’s Office of Student Life. Each trip is open to the public.
