Dr. Clayton Railey III Named New Provost and Dean
Appointed by President Shanblatt, Railey takes over the role after holding administrative posts at Delaware County Community College.
Bucks County Community College has named Dr. Clayton Railey III as its next Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs. He comes to Bucks from his previous position as Dean of Communications, Arts and Humanities at Delaware County Community College.
“I am excited about the strengths that Clay brings to us and look forward to his leadership,” said Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt, college president, in announcing the appointment. She added that the selection was made after an extensive national search and work by members of a search committee.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt and the faculty and staff at Bucks to provide Bucks County residents the finest education available,” said Railey. “Everyone whom I have met impresses me immediately with their enthusiasm for serving the students at Bucks, and this makes the school seem like home to me.”
Railey, who assumed the post on June 16, holds a B.A. from Dickinson College in English and Economics, an M.A. from St. Louis University in American Studies, a M. Div. and S.T.M. from the Jesuit School of Theology, and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt in English.
Railey replaces Dr. Annette Conn, who served in the post for more than 20 years and returned to full-time faculty last academic year. Catherine McElroy had served as interim provost and dean since last fall. She remains in her previous post as Dean of Academic and Curricular Services.
