A reception was held February 7, featuring live jazz by the Dave Shepherd trio, guest speaker Robert Beck, and an authors’ corner with faculty who have recently published work.

Beck, an award-winning artist who specializes in representational oil paintings and painting live events in unusual environments, spoke about “Being an Artist in the Real World.”  Beck lives in Bucks County and maintains a studio and gallery in Lambertville, N.J.  He generously donated one of his oil paintings, Carversville Barn (pictured, below), that was raffled off at the reception. All proceeds went to the BCCC Foundation scholarship fund.

In addition, several Bucks faculty members who have recently published books were available for book signings and discussion in the authors’ corner. Hendrik Booraem, who has written several biographies of U.S. presidents, historical fiction writer William Pezza, poet and prose author James Freeman, and fiction writer Jennie Smith took part.
