Bucks Student Earns Pickering Manor Nursing Scholarship

Yardley’s Rachel Percy, a Practical Nursing student, receives $1,000 in recognition of her passion for caring for others.

‌Rachel Percy (left) of Yardley, a practical nursing student at Bucks County Community College, is congratulated by Pickering Manor Executive Director/Administrator Michelle Knobloch (right) for receiving the sixth annual Pickering Manor Licensed  Practical Nursing Scholarship. Pictured behind them is a portrait of H. Russell Pickering, who bequeathed his residence and a sum of money to create Pickering Manor, which opened in 1963 to serve older residents.

Recognizing the need for skilled nurses, Newtown-based Pickering Manor established a $1,000 scholarship in 2007 to support students in the college’s practical nursing program, which is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. The one-year program, requiring classroom and clinical components, starts every July.
