The Gallery at LBC Opens with ‘Show Some heART’

Permanent exhibition space is launched with third annual art show and sale.

While art galleries abound in central and upper Bucks County, artists in the southern part of the county have had to rely on temporary exhibit spaces. That all changed February 21 and 23, when Bucks County Community College unveiled The Gallery at Lower Bucks Campus with the third annual “Show Some heART” art show and sale.

The gallery will rotate exhibitions by local artists, according to Jim Sell, the campus’s executive director.

“The lower end of the county didn’t have a permanent art gallery where our local artists could show their work,” Sell explained. “We thought it would be a good opportunity to serve the community and continue the mission of the college.”

Sell says a community coalition – consisting of the BCCC Foundation, the Artists of Bristol on the Delaware, the Artists of Yardley, the Grundy Foundation, the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County, ARTSBRIDGE, and the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce – set a goal to raise $10,000 to install the gallery. It is located in the first-floor hallway overlooking the Student Commons area in the Lower Bucks Campus.

“Show Some heART”  featured more than five dozen artists offering more than 100 pieces, each priced at $120. Proceeds from all art sales benefited scholarships. Participating groups included Artists of Bristol on the Delaware, Artists of Yardley, ARTSBRIDGE, and the New Hope Art League.

The Lower Bucks Campus is located at 1304 Veterans Highway, Bristol, Pa., 19007.
