‘Day for All Women’ Features Empowering Speakers and Workshops
Jean Vernor, President and CEO of Sculptz, is keynote speaker ahead of a wide range of enlightening sessions
Women have a chance to explore personal and professional development Saturday, November 7 at the 27th Annual Day for All Women, a conference co-hosted by Bucks County Community College and the Bucks County Commissioners’ Advisory Council for Women.
About 400 women are expected to attend, says conference coordinator Marian Colello. They’ll choose three workshops from nearly five dozen offerings which reflect the diverse interests of women today. Offerings range from health and fitness topics to career management and family issues. In addition, free health screenings will be offered throughout the day.
The conference features a keynote address from Jean Vernor, president and CEO of Sculptz, a U.S.-based maker of legwear and shapewear. Her career has spanned many industries including automotive, financial services, Fortune 500 brand advertising and marketing to the 50-plus segment. Originally from Detroit, Vernor spent nearly 10 years at D’Arcy Masius, Benton and Bowles, a leading global advertising and communications agency where she worked on the successful transformation of General Motors’ Cadillac brand to reach younger consumers. Vernor currently serves as a cabinet member for the AARP Women’s Leadership Circle.
A break for lunch and networking includes a resource fair, where nearly two dozen nonprofit agencies will provide information on specific assistance that’s available on a number of issues. The resource fair, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., also includes several agencies related to women’s health issues. The day concludes with a raffle and door prizes.
The conference is made possible in part by the generous support of sponsors, including St. Mary Medical Center, McCaffrey’s Market, Penn Cardiac Care at Mercer Bucks, and Sculptz.
The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at BCCC’s Newtown campus at 275 Swamp Road. Registration is $35, which includes the keynote address, three workshops, continental breakfast, and lunch. Preregistration for just $30 will be accepted through November 1.
