Ben Marcus is the author of four books of fiction, including The Age of Wire and String and his newest novel, The Flame Alphabet. His work has been published in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The New York Times, Salon, McSweeney's, and Time. In 2009, he received a grant for Innovative Literature from the Creative Capital Foundation, and his awards include the Morton Dauwen Zabel Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Whiting Writers Award, a NEA Fellowship in fiction, and three Pushcart Prizes. He is currently an associate professor at Columbia University.
