In this video by Stuart King, a young woodturner can be found plying his trade in the medina of old Marrakech. With just one tool (a skew chisel) he turns a chess piece on a bow lathe that would have been a familiar sight in ancient Greece or the Pharaoh's Egypt.
Robin Wood on a Manual Pole Lathe
British artist Robin Wood's multimedia display "Cor Blimey" (2007-2008). Robin Wood works with a very old style of wood turning made on what is called a pole lathe. Wood is a master of functional turning.
