Men's Soccer start season with 6 road games

9/13/12 (Men's Soccer)

Bucks men’s soccer opened up its 2012 season with two difficult away games on artificial grass. First up was a game versus the 8-time Division 1 National Champions, Mercer County Community College, and were defeated 0-3. Then the team headed to Ocean County College for its second non-conference opponent and were unable to score, losing 0-2. Coach Burroughs stated, “Playing on turf was different for us but we learned a lot about our team. We play an extremely tough non-conference schedule that will help us get ready for the playoffs.”

They then travelled to Harrisburg Area Community College for its first Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference game. After over an hour delay midway through the game due to lightening, the Centurions finally broke through with 3 goals from 3 different players to win their first game of the season with a final score of 3-2.

The Centurions followed with two more conference games against long-time rivals Montgomery County Community College and Northampton County College resulting in two double overtime games and draws for the Centurions. The Centurions have been outshooting their opposition but have been unfortunate not to convert the shots into goals. “We’ve been playing better but need to finish our opportunities. Our defense has been outstanding but we need to give them more support” said Coach Burroughs. The Northampton game marked second- year player and team co-captain, Mike Klimowicz’s, first shut-out of the 2012 season. Next up for our Men’s team will be Manor College on Saturday September 15 with a noon kick off.
