Usage Permission

Sometimes you need to seek usage permission for material that is copyrighted and for which the use is not covered by copyright law exemptions. Below is a listing of sites designed to assist in determining whether usage permission is required and, if so, how to obtain it.

In 1994, IUPUI (Indiana University- Purdue University- Indianapolis), formed the Copyright Management Center (CMC). It was the first office of its kind at any college or university in the United States. Its purpose is to serve its constituents in “the management of copyright issues arising in the creation of original works and in the use of existing copyrighted works for teaching, research, and service.”
