Application Information

An international student is a citizen of a country other than the United States of America who is authorized to remain in the United States for a temporary period as a nonimmigrant student and who intends to return to his/her home country.

Admission

Bucks County Community College will consider for admission, foreign students who meet the criteria below. Admission to BCCC and the issuance of the I-20 INS Form is determined by the Director of Multicultural Student Services and the Dean of Enrollment Management.

The following guidelines will be used to determine eligibility for admission into BCCC:

  • The student must have successfully completed an American equivalent of secondary school education
  • A sponsor is required who assumes financial responsibility for the student. This financial responsibility includes room and board, tuition, fees, living expenses, medical insurance and any other personal support. Bucks County Community College does not provide on-campus housing.
Foreign students by Pennsylvania law are not considered residents; therefore, they are not eligible for state or county subsidized tuition. All students must attend both fall and spring semesters, and take at least 12 credits each semester. Financial aid is not available to foreign students.

Sponsors interested in having a relative or friend considered for admission to BCCC should contact the Office of Multicultural Student Services at 215-968-8107 for an appointment and submit the following:

  1. The BCCC application form must be completed and submitted with a $30 nonrefundable application fee.
  2. The sponsor must complete and sign the college's affidavit of support plus the Form I-134 Affidavit of Support. A notary public or first-class magistrate must sign the affidavits.
  3. The sponsor must also submit a letter with an official signature on bank letterhead which verifies the following:
    • the sponsor's current bank account balance
    • whether the account is in good standing
  4. Official secondary and post secondary transcripts. The transcript must indicate that the applicant has at least completed the equivalent of secondary school (11 to 12 years of education) and must also include descriptive titles of courses studied, the total number of lecture and laboratory hours devoted to each course of study, final grade in each course and explanation of marking system. All international academic credentials must then be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service before processing into Bucks County Community College's records.
  5. If a student is transferring from another institution, the original school must complete a transfer form.
  6. Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results. Advise Educational Testing Service (ETS) to send the scores directly to Bucks County Community College (School Code # 2066). In the absence of TOEFL results, it may be necessary to conduct a telephone and email interview to assess the student's English ability, since BCCC has a minimum language standard for admission. All students are required to take BCCC placement tests.
  7. All documents for admission for the fall semester should be submitted by July 1. All documents for admission for the spring semester should be submitted by November 1. For the summer semester the deadline is April 15. If accepted, a student is expected to arrive at the College at least one week before the start of classes.
  8. Upon receipt of all completed and signed documents, as well as a favorable review, Bucks County Community College will issue the student an I-20 form.
  9. If accepted, a student is expected to arrive at the College at least one week, but no more than 3 weeks, before the start of classes.
