Winners of Heim/Camp Student Poetry Award read with Stan Heim, Professor Emeritus, and Adam Sorkin, Translator of Romanian poetry. They will be joined by Monica Flint & Jadwiga Lubinski, reading from the Polish.
The Stan Heim/Louis Camp Student Poetry Award was established to honor the two presiding geniuses of the BCCC reading series, Louis Camp and Stan Heim; they brought hundreds of amazing poets to the BCCC campus and inspired countless numbers of students.
Adam J. Sorkin is a translator of contemporary Romanian literature, whose work has won the Poetry Society (U.K.) Corneliu
M. Popescu Prize for European Poetry Translation for 2005, as well as the Kenneth Rexroth Memorial Translation Prize and the Ioan Flora Prize for Poetry Translation. In 2011, he published A Path to the Sea by Liliana Ursu, Ioan Flora’s Medea and Her War Machines, and The Vanishing Point That Whistles: An Anthology of Contemporary Romanian Poetry. His 2009 book of Mircea Iv��nescu’s lines poems poetry was shortlisted for the 2011 Poetry Society prize, and the Ursu volume was Silver Award winner in poetry as a ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year. In 2012, he is publishing Mouths Dry with Hatred by Dan Sociu and The Flying Head by Ioan Flora. Sorkin is Distinguished Professor of English at Penn State Brandywine.
