This course is administered over 10 weeks beginning the last week of August and ending the first week of November. It is NOT self-paced. The labs are performed at home via physiology lab simulation software and virtual cadaver dissection software. Access to these products are included with the new textbook.
The REQUIRED textbook is Anatomy & Physiology, The Unity of Form and Function, 7th Edition, by Ken Saladin. A PREVIOUS EDITION IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND WILL NOT ALLOW YOU ACCESS TO OUR COURSE MATERIALS. We will be using web-based computer programs called Connect, Tegrity, Anatomy & Physiology Revealed 3.0, and PhILS 4.0. All of these are accessible via ONE online access code that comes with the new textbook. I highly recommend purchasing the book new in the bookstore. A used book will not come with online access, which you will have to purchase separately. You have two choices, a hardcover version of the book and a less-expensive, three-hole-punch version of the book: just buy one). Accommodations will not be made for students who go out on their own to get materials and end up with the wrong stuff.
There will NOT be an in-person orientation held at the start of the semester rather there will be Orientation materials available on the first day of classes in our Canvas Course Space accessible at www.bucks.instructure.com that online learning will direct you toward.
Weekly homework quizzes are untimed and taken at home, while 5 NON open-book exams will be taken on campus in one of our three testing centers (Newtown, Bristol, or Perkasie). Exams will be available during a specific date range spanning about one week (most likely Saturday to Saturday). You can take the exam at any time the centers are open during that range. No appointment is necessary. The testing center in Newtown is open until 9pm on Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday, until 4pm on Tuesday & Friday, and until 1pm on Saturdays (satellite campuses have limited hours). A link to the testing center website will be provided in Canvas so you can always check their schedule before an exam. These are the only on-campus requirements.
This is not a self-paced course. You must be prepared for exams when I schedule them. The full semester's schedule will be available at the start of the semester. The E-learning course is not for people who do not have time for school. All the knowledge & understanding that is expected of face-to-face students is expected of online students.
