Purchasing Your Books and Other Course Materials
While you may purchase your books and other course materials from the provider of your choice (using the
ISBN number available through the course's academic department
where applicable to ensure the correct version), both the campus bookstore
and our online bookstore,
guarantee that they stock the correct version for your course.
Approximately 3 weeks prior to the start of the session you can use the link
below to see the list of books that have been selected by your instructor. If you have
any questions about the course materials listed, please contact your instructor or the academic
this link to see the book list for your course.
Other Information about the Course
All classes, including labs will be online. If you would like to meet f2f, I will be available for appointments as necessary. The first day of the semester is OUR first day of class! You will have components due the first week of class.
Remember online courses do require a large amount of discipline on your part. Face-to-face biol 181 courses meet for five hours and thirty minutes per week. Students are then recommended to at least double that time for studying and doing homework outside of class. Therefore to be successful in this online version of the class I recommend at least 16 hours of work per week for class. You must be organized and disciplined in your scheduled times of study to succeed in this course! I will always be there to help you succeed in the class. Do not hesitate to email me at anytime for help related to the class.
Exams, Quizzes, Labs, and Homework Assignments will all be online components, excluding/except the Final Exam. The Final Exam will be taken at one of the three campus' tutoring centers though, and will require a security code that I will provide. This is the only component that will need to be taken or completed at the testing center. The Final will be available to take over a couple of days.
You are only required to purchase one textbook, Anatomy and Physiology HB or LL W/Connect+ & QTIP (by Saladin - 6th ed.). The BCCC bookstore has the required textbook with Connect listed as follows:
- ANATOMY+PHYSIOLOGY HB W/CONNECT+ & QTIP
ISBN: 9780077909598 (OPTION #1 is a hardback
- ANATOMY+PHYSIOLOGY LL W/CONNECT+ & QTIP
ISBN: 9780077832919 (OPTION #1 is a looseleaf
version of the book).
You are not required to purchase a lab book, as all of our labs are virtual labs. You are REQUIRED to purchase the Connect Plus component though! All Homework Assignments and Assessments (i.e. Exams and Quizzes), other than the virtual labs, will be in Connect only! The Labs are in Canvas.
