Accessing Your Course
Canvas (by Instructure)
Your course is using Canvas. If you are new to Canvas, please visit the
Canvas Basics course space
to become familiar with Canvas prior to the start of your course. No login is required to
access this space.
You will be able to login to Canvas about two weeks prior to the start of your class.
However, your course becomes available as of 1 AM on the official course
Log in to your Canvas course space at
- Username: Your username is the same for every system at Bucks.
- Password: your Bucks Network password (used to log into any Bucks campus computer or to access any Bucks Library online database from off campus.)
If you do not know your Bucks Username, you can retrieve it by using the Find Your Username Form. Enter your Name, Birthday (mm/dd/yyyy) and either your 7 digit student ID number OR your social security number, then click Submit. Your Bucks username will display on the screen.
Note: Students are uploaded to Canvas several times a day. If you registered late, you won't be
able to access Canvas until the next upload takes place.
This course will use a website developed by a textbook publisher.
Specific details for accessing this website
will be provided by your instructor.
Purchasing Your Books and Other Course Materials
While you may purchase your books and other course materials from the provider of your choice (using the
ISBN number available through the course's academic department
where applicable to ensure the correct version), both the campus bookstore
and our online bookstore,
guarantee that they stock the correct version for your course.

Other Information about the Course
This is an intense course in which highly disciplined students will research, outline, and deliver three speeches in just six weeks, plus other assignments. THIS IS NOT A COURSE FOR STUDENTS WITH HIGH LEVELS OF SPEECH ANXIETY. Student must have access to computer, Internet, and Canvas.
MANDATORY: Students will deliver speeches IN PERSON from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. in Penn Hall room 253 on the Newtown Campus on the following dates: Tue. June 4 or Thu. June 6 (tribute speech); Thu. June 13 or Tue. June 18 (informative speech); and Tue. June 25 or Thu. June 27 (persuasive speech). INSTRUCTOR WILL ASSIGN SPEECH DATES based on alphabetical order of students' last names.
Instructor will record these speeches and upload the video to a website for the student to evaluate his/her presentations.
FAILURE TO COMPLETE ANY OF THE THREE REQUIRED SPEECHES WILL RESULT IN FAILURE OF THE COURSE.
You must be a highly motivated student who can work independently. This is not a section to take if you have speech anxiety or are not fluent in the English language as the instructor will not have time to work with you on these issues. Late assignments and late speeches are not accepted. There will be no make-up speeches. If you have a conflict with any of these deadlines or requirements, please register for a different section.
Class work will be computer intensive. Using our Canvas "Virtual Classroom," you will be required to complete assignments, post to a discussion board and respond to other postings. Prerequisite: Writing Placement Test score of 6 or better or COMP107 (C or better).
