Accessing Your Course

Canvas (by Instructure)

Your course is using Canvas. If you are new to Canvas, please visit the Canvas Basics course space to become familiar with Canvas prior to the start of your course. No login is required to access this space.

You will be able to login to Canvas about two weeks prior to the start of your class. However, your course becomes available as of 1 AM on the official course start date.

Logging In

Log in to your Canvas course space at bucks.instructure.com

  • Username: Your username is the same for every system at Bucks.
  • Password: your Bucks Network password (used to log into any Bucks campus computer or to access any Bucks Library online database from off campus.)

If you do not know your Bucks Username, go to WebAdvisor. Select Account information (upper right hand corner of the screen) then select What's My User ID? and follow the prompts. You will need to provide your last name AND either your 7 digit student ID number OR your social security #. Your Bucks username will display on the screen.

Note: Students are uploaded to Canvas several times a day. If you registered late, you won't be able to access Canvas until the next upload takes place.

Other Information about the Course

Thank you for your interest in Life and Health - HLTH 103. I hope that you will benefit immensely from the course as we focus on healthy behaviors and engaging in a positive lifestyle. Please note that this course is an eLearning course through Canvas. ALL aspects of the courses (assignments, examinations, and postings) are completed online through the Canvas course space. At least 2 - 3 week prior to the start of classes, a WELCOME EMAIL will be sent to all registered students BCCC email account providing additional information regarding the course.

Orientation: There will be a mandatory online orientation session for all students to complete once classes start. To complete the online orientation, the student must enter the course space and click on the "Online Orientation - Start Here" icon. Students must successfully complete the online orientation (e.g., score a 100% (9) on the quiz) to gain full access into the HLTH 103 - Life and Health course space. Students can retake the quiz multiple times.

This course uses a course management system called Canvas. It is recommended that students review the Canvas Basics course found at https://bucks.instructure.com/courses/36545 (no login required). Students are encouraged to contact the Technology Learning Center for assistance in understanding Canvas and eLearning courses. Additionally, it will aid in the technological aspects of the course. The Canvas Basics course contains information on how to navigate in Canvas and the tools you will use.

Communication: The course is designed so that you, the student, can benefit from various methods of communication with the instructor and your fellow students. This means that you will be required to participate in various chat sessions, and utilize the numerous internet methods to communicate, send assignments, take tests and quizzes, and perform your own research. Remember, your success in this class will be directly linked to your utilization of the various tools available to you.

Course Requirements: Some things that will be required for your effective participation in this course are the following items:

  1. Access to a Computer with Internet Access
  2. Active participation in on-line discussions and chat sessions
  3. Timely completion of required examinations and class assignments. NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED! (ALL ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH THE COURSE SPACE)
