Other Information about the Course |
The only purchase required is the the text book: Inquiry into Life, 13th ed., Mader. Since this paperback text has been designed exclusively for this course, students are advised to purchase the text from the college bookstore. Each text contains an access code for CONNECT. This code is generally not available in used copies. If a used text purchase is your choice, an access code may be purchased with a credit card the day of orientation. A additional option is to purchase the e-pack, using a credit card, once the student has registered into CONNECT. How to do this will be explained at the orientation. If purchasing a used copy through Amazon (or some other source) is your choice, be certain to allow enough time for the text to be delivered by the first day of class. ALL modules, virtual labs, and exams are on Connect. Therefore, access to Connect is a COURSE REQUIREMENT.Since all the lab experiences are virtual (on-line), a lab manual is not required or necessary. All exams are on-line and administered at the testing centers located at the,Newtown,Lower Bucks, and Upper Bucks campuses. The final is also administered in the testing centers at the Newtown, Lower Bucks, and Upper Bucks Campuses. Arrangements can be made to utilize alternate locations which provide proctors. These arrangements must be made at least 1 week prior to the exam. The exams, including the final, are available over a three to four day period of time. With the exception of the orientation, there are no required class meetings. However, the instructor will be available periodically for those students requiring a "face to face" meeting. Convenient times can be determined via e-mail in the Connect course space. This course follows a detailed schedule to assure that all work is completed on time and that the student is prepared to take each of the scheduled exams. I look forward to meeting with you on 3/4/13 at which time we will review the course format, register into CONNECT, practice how to access exams, virtual labs and course modules.
