Welcome to SOCI110- Introduction to Sociology!
In this course, we will learn how our society and the groups to which we belong influence us. Together, we will explore and examine how society’s institutions, including the political, social, economic, familial, religious and cultural framework influences so many areas of our lives including educational attainment, income, illness, disease and even marriage.
We will learn from how people become homeless to how people become presidents and we will learn how social class can set us on a path in life.
I hope you will find the study of sociology as fascinating as I have. It really is a study of not just the world around us but of how each of our unique lives and individual experiences has been affected by larger social influences.
I also hope you really enjoy the online learning environment. I certainly have! Online learning is a great way and place to learn.
It enables you to have the flexibility of learning on your own time while also providing a highly interactive learning environment.
I look forward to meeting you in our online forum!
