Getting Started With This Course
Orientation for this course is recommended.
Your instructor will hold the orientation online using self-paced tools, email and/or discussions. (A self-paced orientation does NOT mean the entire course is self-paced.) You should plan to access your online course no later than the first day of the session. Failure to do so may jeopardize your grade.
Other Orientation Information
Orientation will take place online in Canvas. In addition to CANVAS, CONNECT is used, which contains a complete e-pack for the text, assignments, labs, and exams. You will be introduced to both learning programs. Since this course meets on Tuesday, the first F2F meeting will occur one week after classes begin. Therefore, all enrolled students will receive email instructions concerning how to register into Connect and an assignment to be completed by the first F2F meeting, 9/2/14.

Purchasing Your Books and Other Course Materials
While you may purchase your books and other course materials from the provider of your choice (using the
ISBN number available through the course's academic department
where applicable to ensure the correct version), both the campus bookstore
and our online bookstore,
guarantee that they stock the correct version for your course.
Approximately 3 weeks prior to the start of the session you can use the link
below to see the list of books that have been selected by your instructor. If you have
any questions about the course materials listed, please contact your instructor or the academic
this link to see the book list for your course.
Other Information about the Course
The only purchase required is the the text book: Inquiry into Life, 14th ed., Mader. Since this paperback text has been designed exclusively for this course, students are advised to purchase the text from the college bookstore. Each text contains an access code for CONNECT. This code is generally not available in used copies. If a used text purchase is your choice, an access code may be purchased with a credit card. A additional option is to purchase the e-pack, using a credit card, once the student has registered into CONNECT. If purchasing a used copy through Amazon (or some other source) is your choice, be certain to allow enough time for the text to be delivered by the first day of class. ALL modules, virtual labs, and exams are on Connect. Therefore, access to Connect is a COURSE REQUIREMENT.Since all the lab experiences are virtual (on-line), a lab manual is not required or necessary. All exams are on-line and administered at the testing centers located at the,Newtown,Lower Bucks, and Upper Bucks campuses. The final is also administered in the testing centers at the Newtown, Lower Bucks, and Upper Bucks Campuses. Arrangements can be made to utilize alternate locations which provide proctors. These arrangements must be made at least 1 week prior to the exam. The exams, including the final, are available over a three day period of time. This course follows a detailed schedule to assure that all work is completed on time and that the student is prepared to take each of the scheduled exams. I look forward to working with you this semester. And remember, if you are not familiar with Canvas or Connect, the discussion times will be noted in the forth coming email for you to ask questions and receive guidance for both programs.
